I recently bought a Cap1800 powerhead (waterpump), pumps about 650 gph or somewhere around that. Also bought a Cap1200, and have installed both of these on opposite ends of my 125 gallon fish only with live rock saltwater tank. Finally getting close to the water movement I was needing. I really like these pumps, except for one thing, and that is the suction cup mounts that come with them. As far as suction cups go, these are some of the better ones that I have seen. However, after a couple months of using them, I went to the fishroom the other morning to turn lights on, and the 125 looked like someone had poured milk into it. The suction cups had come loose during the night and the out-take was blowing straight down into the sand. I couldn't see into the water it was so bad. Live rock was completely white from all the sand that had settled onto it.

As the tank began to clear towards the afternoon, I did a quick "headcount" to make sure everyone was accounted for, could not find my scopas tang. That's because he was laying on the floor beind the tank. This was one of my favorite fish. Was so shy when I first bought him that I would have to sit perfectly still in a chair in front of the tank even to get a glimpse of him. Eventually trained him to eat algae sheets or shrimp from my hand, he became a real pet. I will miss this fish.

Anyway, has anybody else had problems with these suction cups? How do you get them to stay in position in your tank? There is one brand, not sure which one, that has a nice plastic clip that fits over the side of the tank. Anybody got any ideas on how to make something that would do the same thing? This particular pump is fairly heavy, so it would have to be something fairly substantial to hold it in place.
