seems pretty cool. I have 2 tanks that i cannot siphon properly because they are too low. This seems like a perfect solution? I am concerned that it won't suck hard enough.

They suck very well. You can turn it off once the syphon is working to save on batteries. They are a bit noisy while the motor is on. I posted this and "lost" it so I hope I'm not double posting.
