My little cory seems to be having problems staying on the bottom of the tank....when he is looking for food he seems fine but when he stops moving he has problems keeping his tail down as it floats up slowly behind him? I lost his mate suddenly last week (who was the healthier one?) I just came home and she was dead on the bottom of the tank and she had been perfectly fine when I left the house for work?? Any ideas....? I have even separated the Cory's from the Tetra as I suspected bullying?

I recently found out that the guy I took over the tank from used to add normal tap water into his tank without ever treating it...I am assuming his Tetra became accustomed to this? It has been a few months since I took it over and I have replaced most of the water with treated water - do you think this is what could be making them sick? (that the water was untreated)

Need test results in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph, how many gallons, and full stock list of fish, what do you feed the fish.
Cory are prone to bacterial problems, how often do you gravel vac the tank.
Once swim bladder has progressed it very hard to cure, sorry.
But if you can issolate i would try a bacterial med.

Sorry my bad...I should have given all that. :(
Ammonia, Nitrite = 0
Nitrate - 12.5
PH = between 6.5 and 7
The tank is 70 litres not sure how many gallons ? 30cm (W) x 60cm (L) x 38cm (H)
I currently have 2 Sterbas Cory's, 1 Panda Cory, 2 Shwartz Cory's and three Tetra (Pristella) in the tank, three plants and two small ornaments (hiding places)
I vaccum the gravel twice a week....well I try to do it twice a week but sometimes I only manage once a week over the weekend....
Feeding I feed them a combination of flakes, pellets and blood worms....I tend to feed them every second day.... ?
Anything else I have forgotten? :)

Everything looks ok apart from the diet.
Need more frozen foods and veg in there diet.
Like frozen bloodworms,daphnia,micro worms,tubilex worms,brimestrimp, etc.
Veg peas,broc, cabbage,sproats,spinach, etc.
Plus algae tablets.

Actually....I was just reading someone else's post on Velvet.....the dicolouration of the fins etc.....and I did notice that my other Panda Cory seems to have lost some colour his fin is not as black as it used to be but other than that he is not showing any signs of illness.....I also noticed sometimes the tetra used to appear as if they were rubbing themselves against the gravel.....but I only ever saw them do this a few times.....? Could this be something else?? :(

I am really keen to learn and to get to the bottom of what is wrong with my fish any advice or help would be great :)

Veg? Fish eat Veg? ;) Do you have to prepare the Veg before hand and how would I do this??
Do the above have to be live or will frozen do? :)

I have considered maybe getting sand as well instead of gravel but I suppose whole different topic ;)

Corys are prone to bacterial problems so the colour loss in the fin i would say bacterial.
If the tetra's have only flicked a couple of times no need to worry, fish can flick after a water change, sometimes they rub if they got something stuck in there mouths.
