Hi I'm just getting into starting my first aquarium, and I'm looking into getting a 10-20 gallon tank for some tropical fish. I was wondering what people would recommend since I trust you guys more then the people in the pet stores. So far most of the 10 gallon tanks with filters, hoods, lights, etc, the basic starter kit looks to be around 50-60 dollars. I was wondering what my options are and if anybody can recommend a specific brand or to list things that are essential like good water heaters, etc. If anybody could help me I would really appreciate it!

Get the largest tank you can afford. Also the gear that comes with most kits isn't of the best quality, so you may find yourself replacing the peices. IMO it's best to peice the tank together with quality parts from the get go. It may be a little more expensive now, but it will be more expensive having to replace the pieces later.

Okay, so can anybody recommend me some of the better quailty pieces of equipment, like filters, warmers, tanks, etc. Right now my budget will probably only let me get a tank in the 10-20 gallon range.
