Im looking to get a couple of zebras but i dont know the first place to look. Anyone got any info please?

It is best you know that Zebra Plec's are very expensive and it is usually advised that if you are dead set on buying them, it should only be to breed them as I believe they are endangered.

everyone wants a zebra lol...

You could try zebrapleco.com and yes they do appear on aquarists classifieds but they always seem to be overly expensive there.
Do you have much experience with plecs and breeding, assuming that's what you want to do?

In a few years I plan on getting atleast one breeding pair I have been doing a lot of reading on them and it is unfortunate if Brazil builds the 5 dams in their natural habbitat. One thing I know is that when I do breed them i would have to find other breeders in order to cross breed them so that I dont end up inbreeding them, that is one of the things that I have been thinking about. I would have to set something up with others aswell to trade males and females to continue breeding them. I know that with time hopefully we would be able to help them comeback.

Theres a bloke selling them on the buy/sell part of the forum. Check out plecofanatics.com as well. Like someone else said - they're expensive, from what I remember close to £200 a fish - and like someone else said, I'd only suggest buying if you intend to breed them. If only because thats the best way to cover your expenses.

Beware of ebay scams, alot of people have lost alot of money that way on zeb plec scams.

u can get them for as little as £70 if u look around but yeh they need 2 really be species own tank pref brought for breeding but they are stunning..... smithrc and windy sells them quite often so check them out :)

I could be wrong here but although they aren't the most common fish in the wild i don't believe they are endangered, i seem to recall that the reason they are so expensive is because they are no longer allowed to be exported, so no new gene pools can come into the country hense getting good specimens is very hard and therefore expensive.

Could be wrong though.
