So I have an extra 10 gallon this summer i want to get a breeding pair of fish i can breed over the summer and sell what I get. Not in it for the money but I want to try it out, I would rather stay away from chichilids, I was thinking about panda cory's but something fairly simple and sellable would be awesome, if anyone has any ideas please let me know, livebarring or eggs, I'm new to it so I'm open to sudgestions.

Thanks

well the easiest breeders are guppies or mollies i had 2 guppies for 2 months and they give birth to 28 guppy fry so i would go with guppies and they are quite cheap in the shops good luck :D

I did guppies and mollies both last summer, i was looking for something along the same lines in difficulty but something different, I should have mentioned it but thanks for that idea, that'd be my first pick this summer if i dont get any new breeds.
Thanks!

the guppies or some other livebearer like swordtails or mollys would be good. But for other things like kribs or cons. it maybe be just to small.

I COULD move the breeding pair to my 33 gallon once they're "done" so the size doesnt matter initially.

Are kribs relatively easy?

whats in your 33?

i think littlefishie had some rams in a 10g that tried breeding... you couldn't keep anything but rams in there, of course...

Hi _]im :)

I was going to suggest cory cats since some of them make good fish for a beginner at raising egglayers to start with. Then I looked at the picture in your profile and can see that the bottom of your tank is not suited to keeping corys. :/

In my 33 gallon right now I have 10 neons, 2 honey gournami, 3 cories (peppered), 2 otto's, 4 molly fry, 3 zebra's and 2 clown loaches which i plan to get rid of, I made the mistake of buying them they dont really suit well with my 33. So why couldnt cories go well with it?

Not always easy to find , but priced fair , and IME both are fairly easy to care for .

Not sure if clown loaches can easily breed[ or at all ] in captivity .

:) Read this link [ I found it on the net ], Peacock Gudgeons are easy to care for , interesting little fish with no major special requirements Breeding is pretty much a sure thing if you have both sexes . Raising fry can be a challenge , but can be done .

That sounds pretty interesting, I could just move the adults over to my 33 gallon once I have the eggs, I dont know where to get the methyl blue though, but it is managable I think.

I never heard of microworms either, guessing their a dried source I can get at the LFS, that is a cool idea though, wonder if they sell them in nova scotia! haha hope so

the Adults should get along well in that tank .Meth blue was once very commonly used for keeping fungus off eggs , though this is not a total necessity thouh , you should be able to get some at a pet shop . If you leave the male with the eggs as long as possible he'll keep them clean .
Also it's a good idea to have some kind gentle current aimed so the eggs are "fanned ". Small live food can be a problem , If you have an existing tank the fry should get a head start by eating small aquatic life in the aquaria , some we can barely see and some we can't see at all .

I think it's worth a try , but that's my opinion :D

Good luck with whatever you decide :)

Yeah I think I'll do it. I did want to do panda cories but I think these are good to try and start off with.

By any chance how much do you pay for the Peacock Gudgeon? I live in canada I can change the currency but I dont want to trade/pay too much for them.

Thanks
