Have a new, but cycled tank. All readings apart from ph are zero. Ph is 7. Temp. 75.

Introduced 5 guppies on Sunday. Four are absolutely fine- lively, eating, using all tank area. One has taken to staying in same place (ie. within 3-4cm of a picture of a plant, and hiding at the back of the tank). It has not eaten since yesterday. Not coming up for food. Spent part of yesterday in only two areas of tank both near the top. Today it's nearish the bottom. It looks fine- but hard to tell because it's hiding.

Any suggestions, ideas?

Is he being bullied, does he look bloated, also check what it looks like when he goes to the toilet, and make sure he isn't resting on things in the tank, and laying to one side on the gravel.

Is it a male or a female? And what is your male/female ratio? Are there hiding places, like plants or ornaments in the tank is somebody needs time out?

He's not being bullied as far as I can tell. The others are leaving him alone in general. Not resting on anything either. Dorsal fin is up and he's swimming back and forth, just not coming for food. Every so often bending his caudal fin to side, or swimming backwards. Will check toilet when I can. Could it be a delayed reaction to being transferred to my tank or something more sinister?

Might just be stressed due to the move, he not clamping his fins is he.

It's male. I have 5 males. THe tank is well planted and there's also cover in the form of wood and stones.

No fin clamping- the opposite, they're going like mad and he's staying in the same place most of the time. Worth trying an extra dose of Aqua Plus tomorrow when I do a water change? Supposed to help destress fish...Or should I leave the water change for a day or so to avoid stressing him further?

He looks quite healthy, just acting strangely in comparison to the others. Just wonder how long he will go without eating...

He's not swimming odd with a shimmering motion is he.

The tank lights are now off, and he's been out with the others for a short spell. Swimming normally as far as I can see. What does shimmering suggest?

Will have another look in the morning, but won't be posting until night.

If he is happy out with the others in the dark but hides in the daylight, I would think bullying might be another possibility. Keep an eye on them, how do the others treat him? Does he swim in a sort of diagonal position when other fish are near? that can be a submissive posture in livebearers.

He has paired up at times with another male.

It seems that my guppy just doesn't like... me! Have spotted him swimming with the others and has been picking away at food and algae, but whenever the light is put on, or I'm close up, he disappears to the back. He's looking absoulutely fine- lovely colours- pity I'm not getting to see them much. Still doing the funny'still' swimming at the back of the tank, but when getting food, seems fine. Was doing a bit of bullting himself last night.

Hopefully, he'll get used to the new routine soon... :/

Is he swimming odd in place.

SHAKES AND SHIMMIES Fish wags and shakes while standing still.
