I bought an Anubias Nana, which I split in two when I got it. I planted each piece just over a week ago, but what seems to have happened is that the 'cluster' where the stems are joined at the base seems to have disappeared. It's like it's simply dissolved, and the leaves just get dislodged and float to the top. It's like there's no roots or base to the plants any more (I threw the plants away).

The leaves are a very healthy dark green, even though the bottom of the stem is soft and dissolved.

I just have a simple low-light setup; no ferts or CO2. About 1.25 watts per gallon. 12 neons and 2 dwarf gouramis.

did you bury the bit with the stems attached? [the proper name escapes me right now]

Seems you guys are right:

"Like all Anubias species, they are grown from a rhizome and they should be tied to rocks or driftwood. They will also grow well if placed on the gravel. This means that they like water flowing around their rhizome."

Typical that I managed to kill an Anubias in a matter of days, even though they are supposed to be almost impossible to kill.
