I have an anubias nana that has been growing well in my tank for about a year. With most plants I buy, I can eventually split them and plant more... quite money saving... now I heard I can do the same with my anubias... but can you tell me if I have the right idea please? And I am sorry I don't know any fancy terms for things....

So... my anubias has that thick stock at the bottom from where comes the roots and the leaves... am I correct in thinking that I can simply choose a spot and snip that thick stock if I make sure there are roots and leaves present on each piece? This won't kill my plant, right?

Rhizome.
Use a sharp knife, stanley blade worked well for me.
edit:your method works, take roots & leaves

Excellent! Thank-you. I shall take it out and have a good look at it during my next water change.

A stanley blade... is that those thin blades in the plastic sleeves you get at hardware stores? If yes then I have one already!

Yes.Watch your fingers

I'd just like to add; I've been told that the sap from anubias is toxic to shrimps, so let the rhizome dry off for half an hour before attaching it to your wood or rock, and keep it in a bucket for a few days before adding to the tank, if you have shimps :good:

Yep, that's about what I do with mine. Make sure there's enough rhizome and a few leaves on the both parts. I use scissors

Good to know. I am meaning to add to my larger tank that doesn't have my shrimp... but I will leave it in some water on its own for a bit just for safety anyway.

Thanks!
