They just do that. I recently got some nanas and one of them has a flower on it.

I'd take it as a sign of good health.

Thats really cool.

Do all anubias flower? I just got an additional 5 anubias nana today to start my new low maintenance tank.

Mine is also in the process of flowering for the first time. Is that the flower in the pic or is it in the process of opening up? Mine looks like it's still closed.

Looks nice. I love anubias plants, but mine always end up with some kind of algae on them. Do you have this problem with yours?

Congratulations. Pretty aren't they? Mine flower once every 2 months or so, no idea what triggers it but I certainly wouldn't worry.

i think it's linked to a water change. when i see a closed bud appear i normally leave it for a week then do a water change. the flower normally appears within 25hrs of the change. just a guess though but this has happened 3 times in 2 seperate tanks within the last 6 months

yep, if they are happy they will flower at some point. they may take a while to settle in though. you should see something within 3 months maybe sooner though.

Yes a little bit of a problem, especially on the oldest leaves. The good news is that my algae is quite 'soft' and easily rubbed off.

A good use for java moss is to pull a little bit off, roll it up into a ball and wipe the anubias leaves with it ( a bit like washing dishes with a scouring pad !!) The java moss grabs the algea a treat and is more gentle to the anubias leaves than rubbing with your fingers.
Good tip about the moss, but my algae is pretty tough to take off. I'm thinking about trying some kind of bleach, but I'm not too sure yet.
