I got my doctor to prescribe erythromycin and tetracycline for my fish today, he didn’t mind, I found that surprising...anyway

Does anyone know what one will be better for the fungus on my red eye tetra? His scales and fins have a fuzzy white stuff on them; I have heard it is caused by a bacterium usually....

What is the correct concentration for an aquarium?

Does anyone know the antibiotic in Marcin I and Marcin II?

I would go with the e.myacyn. 1/4 tsp is around 400 mg of powder. This will treat 20 gallons.
my erythromycin is in tablet form with a coating....Will this safely dissolve in an aquairum?

Is there any reason to use both erythromycin and tetracycline at the same time? This fish has been treated with kanamycin and his condition improved but did not totaly go away...

Sounds like columnaris what is the mg of the tetracycline, plus it will demage the bacteria colony in your tank that why is best to issolate sick fish so this dosnt happen.

Please don't use both meds at one time as tetracycline is a gram negative and gram positive antibiotic which means it has a wide range of treating deseases, where the other one is just a gram negative med which will only treat certain bacteria's.
So go with the tetracycline but you will only need to cut a small bit of the table of the end and crush with a spoon and add it to a jug of tank water stiring well till it disolves, than put through a net a couple of times than add to the tank.

Tetracycline
Manufacturer: Aquatronics
A broad-spectrum antibiotic used in the treatment of gram-positive and some gram-negative bacterial infections. For infections of fin and tail rot, frayed fins, popeye, inflamed gills, mouth and body open sores/ulcers, livebearer disease, dropsy, Columnaris, and secondary infections such as fungal. Specific for livebearers and goldfish. Aerate the aquarium well when using. Useful for the control of some common bacterial diseases, including Aeromonias and Pseudomonas Genera and the Mysobacterial group.

Sorry this med is a gram positive and gram negative med.

Erythromycin
Bacterial medication that treats gram positive & some gram negative bacteria, including those that cause fin and tail rot, Gill Disease and Molly Disease.
