It says keep it out untill 7 days after your last dose of anti white spot. Why is that? what will it do if you keep it in?

Activated carbon takes out metals and other similare impurities by 'adsorbing' them (or sticking them to the surface). A lot of fish treatments are metal based and all the filter does is take the treatment out of the water meaning it doesn't do the fish any good.

I only know this because this is what they do to treat drinking water and it's what I do for a living!!!

I learned the hard way, My fish had ich when I was starting out 4-5 years ago, classic case of new-tank syndrome. I went to the lfs and bought what they recommended but they didn't tell me about the carbon and I guessed I didn't even realize I had carbon in my whisper cartridge until the water kept losing the blue color of the medication. It wasn't something they warned me about either. Glad you asked the question. Good luck with the treatment. By the way, if you don't already know it, turning up the temperature will speed up the ich life-cycle and they'll die sooner. The maximum temperature depends on the type of fish you have.

I took the carbon filter out, i read it in the instructions. Just wanted to know why it had to be done, now i know.
Cant learn enough stuff about keeping fish.
