I netted two snails last night and five more this morning. I've noticed my plants aren't looking so good anymore. The leaves are falling off and floating everywhere. Are those pesky snails causing this to happen? This weekend I'm going to my LFS to buy a dwarf puffer fish. I have a cucumber in the tank now but so far no snails on it. Should I pull my live plants until I get the snail problem under control? Would soaking the plants in warm salt water help to rid them of snails and eggs? Thanks.

Probably not, most pest snails are not known to eat live plants.

What types of plants do u have? have you checked the requirements for those plants (lighting, ferts etc)
It is probably something else not the snails killing your plant, as said above.
A dwarf puffer will take care of any snails, careful though he might go after your fish.

For plants, I have a micro sword, anacharis, and one with large round leaves. They are planted in a 2" layer of flourite with sand on top. I only found one tiny snail this morning so maybe I caught the problem early enough. I didn't catch any snails with a cucumber so I'm trying a carrot now.
