I have now noticed that some of my Monos have a slight "blackish" tint to the ends of their caudal fins. It has just developed over the last few days. Im guessing all the stress they have been through with moving and water conditions. Can this be the beginning of tail rot? And if so, now that they are in a temp. tank what should I treat them with? I know of several different meds but am not sure of what would be best. Or if this is even tail rot????

Thanks

Monos will turn dark when stressed. They also go dark at night, if you haven't noticed. Fin-rot is very distinctive: you will see the fin membrane edging back from the fin rays. So, provided that isn't happening, I wouldn't worry too much.

Besides, brackish water usually inhibits fin-rot and fungus very effectively. If you do need to treat a brackish water tank, go for medications designed for fresh AND salt water, as these will work in brackish water. Often, ones made purely for freshwater don't work well with the salt.

Cheers,

Neale
