ok ... ive got these 'API 5 in 1 test strips'. im sure your must have heard of them ... they test gh/kh/ph/nitrite&nitrate.

anyway ... all's good except for i cant ever tell what the ph reading is. There's some colour there to copare to the chart but its really fade. so i dont know wether to take the tiny bit of faded colour as my reading or to consider the reading to be to low ???

my fish seem to be happy reguardless, im just not sure. Maybe ive got a batch of dodgy strips ???
 
Those test strips are notoriously inaccurate, I'd suggest investing in a liquid test kit. API master kit is a good one if you can get.
 
The test strips can be incredibly inaccurate as the previous poster noted. You don't want to make a big mistake because you test strips screw you up. Liquid testing is the way to go even though it can be a little more time consuming.
