Hello, thought it was only polite to introduce myself as I dived straight into the fish emergency section to seek help for my poorly female Tiger Barb :(
Ive got a 20gal tank and a 30gal tank with Tiger Barbs and Albino Tiger Barbs, Red Finned Shark, Golden Gourami, Common Plec and Serpae Tetras. Im also being given a pair of Kribs in a couple of weeks!!!

I cant believe how addictive keeping fish is, everyone keeps laughing at me as I tend to watch the tanks more than the telly now!!! I have had to restrict myself to 2 trips a month to the LFS and I keep feeling the need to buy bigger tanks and more fish!

Hi & Welcome to TFF :)

I keep feeling the need to buy bigger tanks and more fish!

Keep that in mind, you will need to buy bigger for the common plec once he's starting to outgrow your current tanks :)

Thanks Jen,
Yeah I didnt realise until after I had adopted the tanks as to how big he will actually get!!! Its actually pretty shocking how many shops will advise you to buy one of these to keep your tank clean, even though theyre messy and grow so big so quickly!
Hopefully Ill be able to find him another loving home when he outgrows the tank or a I could fund a new tank with a lottery win, which would be even nicer!!!

Yep, same old same old with petshops, them been so readily and cheap is just half the problem, word of advice though if you do plan on rehoming then consider it sooner than l8r... people tend to get very put off with a plec 10 inches + to one thats only 2-5 inches :good:

Thanks for the advice, Ill have to have a look around and figure out how Im gonna get him rehomed :( Either that or see if I can persuade my other half to buy me a much bigger tank! He's so cute and actually comes out to say hello when Im looking into the tank which, by my understanding, isn't usual for a plec. Ill be sad if and when he has to go.

Commons do have a lot of charachter and are stunning fish, but the size will always be an issue, 4x2x2 tank is bare minimal with 5x2x2 been better and obvioulsy bigger is always better :shifty:

Just relised your welcome has just turned into a rehoming topic :( sorry!!!
