i'm sarah and i live in lowestoft , suffolk .

i have been interested in keeping tropical fish for a number of years , but have been waiting till i have been finacially able to do so .

i have been looking online for a while now , and there is sooo much information out there but its basically giving me a headache .

i have decided i want to buy a new tank and stand , as at least i know if it doesn't work i have somewhere to go to .

i have found this fish tank which is a FLUVAL ROMA 125

http://www.seapets.co.uk/product-det...gory/1214.html

i was just wondering whether it was a good one , and if the price was right ?

i want to buy an aquarium with most of the stuff i need with it , well to start with anyway as i dont want to have to buy different things when really i haven't a clue .

i wont be asking what type of fish to get yet as i know when i eventually get my tank i will have to cycle it for at least 4 weeks before adding any fish , so i have plenty of time for that reaseach

Hi :hi: :fish:

Ive just ordered a fluval roma 200l, we have similar taste (from seapets also) :hyper:

Cycling wont necessarily take 4 weeks, sometimes its shorter (although sometimes it takes longer). Once the tank arrives one thing you will need is a tester kit to check the water and monitor ammonia, nitrites and nitrates. This will mean you can monitor the progress of the cycling and know when its ready to add fish.

i think it will be my best bet . i have been to the seapets store when i used to live in colchester , and can always drive down there if needed . But the free delivery offer is luring me into ordering online

Hopefully the cycling wont take very long but if i set a rough time , hopefully i can refrain myself from wanting to put fish in when it is not completely ready .

Has anyone brought live fish online before ? if so any recommendations ?
I do have a garden centre about 45 mins drive away where i may purchase fish eventually from but just wanted opinions

my local pets at home is not a place where i would want to buy fish from as whenever i have visited the fish had 'boils' etc on and didn't look very healthy .

Hi Sarah.

I'm new too and live near you as I'm in Gorleston, so I'll be very interested to hear of any good and bad experiences you have with local shops.

Does Lowestoft have an aquatics shop? I'd certainly be happy to travel there to widen my options when it comes to buying fish.

Look at aquatics on www.yell.com for your local centres

Oh I know where my local ones are, I was just hoping for some word of mouth reviews from someone just down the road.

You can't tell from an advert if the place is going to be any good. :)

Sarah

Welcome to the forum you will find people here friendly and willing to help.

This place was recommended to me but I've yet to use them. I will have a look online for you and see what others are about.

i work in a residential home for people with physical disabilities and one of the residents has tropical fish . i was speaking to him today and he said koi joy which has a shop in lowestoft but also gorleston i believe to be very good , i think i may use them as he said he has been using them for a number of years .
