Another Newbie

Hi,

I am new to this site. Although I do already have a smaller tank I have jusst got another new tank the Rena Aquarium 80 but this is my first purley Tropical Tank as my main aim is to keep sharks. I have just started the water filtration and have 6 Zebra Danios at the moment. My smaller tank has 2 Oranda's, 1 Clown Plecko and 3 Armoured Catfish. I seem to have a problem keeping catfish as in a year I have probably had 8 die and 1 having just died this week. I hope to learn lots from you all.

i had just recently boughten a silver tipped catfish and the same thing happen to me it just randomly died. it seemed like it was doing fine because it was always active but i rarely saw it eat so i thought that was the problem....atleast i know im not the only one who can't keep catfish alive lol

I have now had the tank cycled and have 6 silver tip sharks as well as the zebra danios and now 6 Tiger Barbs.
All doing really well and should be getting 8 Tetra's although not sure which ones to get to add some colour?
Don't know whether to get catfish as not had much luck with them although since changing the gravel they seem to look better and they do appear to keep the tank clean.

Can I put Mollies or Platties in this tank or should I stay with getting Tetra's?

Any help would be appreciated.

I keep getting some brown Algea spots on the tank and had the water tested and I have some phosphate and ideas what I can do to get rid of this wityout causing problems to any of my fish?
