Raechal
Fish Gatherer
Okay so I had an eye appointment in the mall and of course there HAS to be a petsmart next to it..so I popped in just to "look" around. I ended up buying a few silk plants, some frozen brine shrimp, and a new betta. He is absolutely gorgeous! He is an orange/pink color kind of like a salmon color but more orange and has red spots throughout his tail. His scales go in a checkered pattern kind of. Like every other scale is a black scale and then his body is an orange-ish color. Then he has two very beautiful blue eyes! He is lovely!
I have one of those tanks where there is like a telescope you can look down into the water and look at your fish while they swim around. It is probably about 2 gallons. I don't use the telescope much as I don't want to freak him out already.
He has two silk plants in there and he seems to love them.
I think he thinks he has died and gone to fishy heaven. He was fed frozen mysis shrimp and brine shrimp and LOOOOVVED it! He is swimming all around his tank flaring at everything, even the gravel. He is so silly.
I will take some pictures of him later tonight.
Oh and a sad story while I was at petsmart...This lady brought her betta in in a little cup and told one of the employees that her betta looked like he was dying and was just sitting on the bottom. The employee tested her water and her ammonia was like 20!
She said she didn't know what dechlor was so I suppose she aged her water because she had him for about a week and she never changed the water. The employee put him in some nice clean water and he perked up for a little bit then sank back down to the bottom.
My mom kept telling me to watch what they do with the betta and maybe I could take him home. The lady was going to trade the betta in, but they told her she can medicate him and he may live so she said okay and bought some melafix. I told the employee she should dillute it as bettas don't do well with full dosages of melafix, atleast one of my boys didn't. Because the lady's betta had really split and blackened fins.
It made me so sad and I wanted to take her betta from her so she wouldn't neglect him anymore.
