USA,
can they eat goast shrip? or glass or whatever they are called. my lfs sells them very cheap, and none of my other fish eat live food. thses guys dont seem to ant to eat the cichlid food i feed them, so i was curious. what about feeder guppies, would they eat those? i also herd that live food helps them breed.

anything to get them to eat and breed before febuary would be nice, id like to sell some fry to get diffrent kinds if i do get a bigger tank for christmas.

Good water quality and a good setup will have them breeding, live food is always good for fish they'll breed fine without it. They're simply too small to eat the foods you are suggesting. They'll enjoy small critters like brine shrimp though, and will begin to accept prepared foods sooner or later.

You mean the shell-dwellers right? They need a diet high in protein. I would think guppies or ghost shrimp are too big for them. Try some brine shrimp (frozen, live or freeze-dried) if they are adults, or daphnia. They are carnivorous and will even take bloodworms though I'm not sure of whether this is the best food for them though I know many of them love it.

The cichlid food you give them... is it mainly plant-based cause this may be your problem.

Nope, the problem so far is impatience - he's only had the fish a couple of days!

Oh lol - just wait for them to settle down then :p

that was rude. just because i them to eat doesnt mean im i have no patience

I don;t think it was meant to sound that way... I'm also sorry if you feel I insulted you. It's just that you do need to wait for fish to settle down when you first get them - I don't think it was meant in a rude way though. Of course you want them to eat but you have to wait a while for them to do so before worrying about it. As for being impatient, even if that were the case I wouldn't take it as an insult - I can never wait for my fish to settle down or breed and I always get worked up about new fish and whether they'll fit in well and the like. :)

see, all my other fish eat right away, if not with in a day or so, but its been 5 days now and still no eating, they just seem to sit around a lyte rock, or a plant in the trank and dig,

Sorry wrs, I was focusing on the breeding part. For food try frozen or live brine shrimp, they usually love it. Use an eyedropper and try getting the food close to their nest, they may not compete as well for food at first, and may even show reluctance to stray from the nest.
