I got some Melafix today to help treat an angel with a bit of fin rot (I have already treated with Myxazin) - but I am a bit confused as the correct amount to put in.

There have been a lot of posts about this in the betta section but I wondered if I should follow the exact instructions on the bottle i.e. 5 ml for every 40l and repeat for seven days, then 25% water change. I have otos in the tank and I know they can be a bit sensitive.

Thanks

use the melafix instrucations. melafix is sensitive fish freindly!!

it's 1 of the only medicines you can use with stingray.

Yeah, I use it at the labelled dosage when I have a problem, and it hasn't caused any trouble so far! I know with Bettas you use 1/5 of the dose of melafix to equal the recommended amount (ie 1 dose of Bettafix). (Edit: that's wrong - you just use the dose on the bottle for the amount of water in the tank - whether you're using Bettafix or melafix)

Thanks guys - after my success (touch wood) at settling my otos in, I did'nt want to do anything to upset them. (Shucks!! :*)
