One Hundred Years of Wildlife Films
Showing as part of the 100 Years of Wildlife Films season, Bill Oddie sees how the social attitudes, the personalities and the technology involved in wildlife films have changed over the last century. From a 1907 film, with flickering images of birds that captivated a cinema audience in Britain to shooting animals for fun in the 1930s to campaigning to save them from extinction today.

repeated at 02:05 Sunday morning

Cool.

Kind of sad though that I'm going to spend my saturday night watching a documentary about Wildlife films....

It's repeated at 02:05 Sunday morning, so you can go out saturday night then watch it when you come in!

I will be recording it ;)

Watched some of it, came in a bit late and missed a bit near the end as I suddenly got sick.
It was a really good watch, liked the start much better than the end of it though. While I am not someone who believes that the footage of animals getting killed should not be shown, I'd like a warning so I can look away. Which was given most of the time, so I missed a fair few shootings ... but there was no warning what so ever for the baby seal getting clubbed. Which was, quite disturbing.

I was absolutely amazed at the first underwater footage though. How brilliant must that have been? To be on portable oxygen for the first time, and shoot underwater.

The 2 hours were definatly entertaining =)

for those that missed it
it is on again at 20:30 tonight on BBC4

I do wish some kind of warning was given about the seal scene
but admire the producers for including such shocking images
what I found odd was there was no mention of Jacues Cousteu
and his contribution to underwater filming

Off topic bit did you watch big cats in england? there was a black leopard spotted around somewhere. It was really good

I watched this till around 4 am on Saturday and loved it.
The wife thought i was mad.

what I found odd was there was no mention of Jacues Cousteu
and his contribution to underwater filming

that that was very odd aswell.

I remember watching the Chimps hunting the Colobus monkeys in awe, when that was 1st shown
