another fry question

how long should i wait to remove the sponge thing from the filter intake in my fry tank? and i think "sponge thing" is the scientifically correct name, or at least it should be...

if we are talking the same sponge thingy, i leave mine all all the time. but i always have free swimming fry i cant catch and i dont want to loose them.

I'd just leave it in there,it's a good place for the beneficial bacteria to grow.

not a sponge filter, but one of those sleeves that fits over the intake of the HOB filter. i was just worried that with that on it wouldn't filter the water enough

I wouldn't worry about it, it collects debris from the tank. Shouldn't effect the fry.....
