So before, I came here saying that my female betta had a bump on her side. I had thought she was just constipated, but turns out whatever it is, is much worse.
She's now bloated & pineconing like crazy and will hopefully die soon (hate seeing her this way).

I've just started noticing a week ago that the betta in the tank w/ her (yes it's divided before anyone has a spaz attack) is now developing a bump on one of his sides. I didn't pay it attention at first b/c I was too worried about the other betta :\

He's over a year old. I only know that much b/c I've had him for over a year. No telling how old he was when I got him.
But I think bumps on one side on both fish is too much of a coincedence.

What am I dealing with?
I treated the tank with maracyn 1 & 2, but the bump has only gotten larger.
It looks light. Like it might just be fluids or something.

Here is a blurry pic I took of him.
Yes the water is green... dang tank is algae central :\
He acts totally normal though. Eats, swims, flares, etc etc.

I thought maracyn 1 & 2 would fix a bacteria problem, but apparently not.
If this is a bacterial infection, what meds should I get?

Divided tanks don't like them they cause desease.
Because the filter dosnt work right as the tanks have dividers.
Where are the filters in the tank.,

The filter is on the left side of the tank.
His side has an airstone so it aggitates the surface a bit and I do weekly water changes where I clean his side very well b/c the filter isn't getting to it.

Anyways... divided tank aside.... filter has nothing to do with it.... the tank is cycled.. no problems w/ water stats or anything of the sort.

What's wrong with my fish.

Heard members using two filters one at both sides.
It because the dividers stop the flow of the water in the tank.
Read something about this that it not a good idea really to divide tanks as they cause illness, due to the fact that the water flow is getting trapped by the dividers, this is why is best to have a filter at each end of the tank.

Not having ago at you.

If you can issolate the sick betta maybe try tetracycline as it dosn't sound like the maracyn one and two is doing much.

I've never had a problem with the tank though.
The fish who got sick first is the one that's on the side with the filter.
You would think that the unfiltered side would be the first to get sick since well.. it's side isn't being filtered :p I guess the little bit of circulation was enough to transfer whatever she has to him.. if it is the same thing.
Anyways.... divided tank won't be a problem soon anyway since I'm going to be taking out the divider.

So meds like maracyn and tetracycline would treat internal bacteria infections right? Just need to make sure before we go out and get some more.

I'm not worried about the beneficial bacteria. I always have extra media in our 28gal filters just for this reason.
I wish we had another tank so I could isolate, but all tanks are being used atm.

Could possibly be a tumour. I have had a betta before with one, he didn't last long after it started. : /
Just a possibility...hopefully yours isn't that and can be cured...

If its filled with fluids the betta stands a chance with a good antibiotic like tetracycline.
It its hard to the touch sounds more like a tumour.

Well I really don't want to traumatize my boy by getting him out and touching him :p
It does appear to be fluid filled though. Certain angles.. I'm fairly certain I can see light reflecting through it. No solid mass in there or anything.

Anywho... if we can't get to the petstore today, it'll be this weekend and we'll get some tetracycline then.

Thanks a bunch for the info.
