Soooo I'm convinced my betta is secretly urping up his food when I'm not looking! lol
He eats like a good lil' piggy at every meal (bloodworms). His water parameters are good, I change his water as needed, and his poop is healthy looking. His tank is a lovely 80 degrees (27 degrees Celsius).
Yet he keeps loosing weight! He swims around all the time, exploring his tank. I even just got him one of those floating betta logs, which he spends quite a bit of time swimming through, around, and under.
But he's so darn skinny now!
Here's what he looked like just two months ago: Pearl Jam in June
And here's what he looks like now: PJ Today
See what I mean? His body is all skinny, with a normal sized head/tummy. I noticed this was starting about two or three weeks ago.
Anyone have any ideas?
...I think he might need to check himself into an eating disorder treatment facility. :shifty: lol

I'm no betta expert so cannot comment. There are though, many people on here that should be able to help, hang in there.

At the moment I have a dt that is extremely skinny and he eats like a horse. Why is he like that?.....beats me. I can only assume a couple of things 1. genetic fault 2. organ failure. 3 worms. 4. internal bacteria infection. well thats more than a couple. So what do I treat him with? Hes lively active and eats well but just skinny. Maybe it is worms. I've tried the garlic with mine but he only spits it out. So now I'm giving him bloodworms soaked in garlic juice to see if that will make an improvement. Otherwise I may need to get some medication for the worms. If its not worms then what other treatment do you give them.

I also suggest worming the fish. Look for an all around wormer..something with praziquentil, levamisol and metronidisol. If in US jungle makes a good one. Can get it @ petsmart/ petco.
good luck!
cheers

The only thing I've added (like two days ago) was one of those floating betta logs. And he's been skinny much longer than that
Ok! I will go today and look at worm meds. Thanks!
