I am new to this forum and would appreciate some advice about one of my guppies. He has suddenly become agitated in our 37 gallon tank and swims around annoying other fish. :grr: He is especially picking on a marble molly twice his size. He isn't hurting it from what I can tell but is annoying it by chasing it almost continually. I thought guppies were normally calm community fish. What should I do to calm him down? This has been going on for about a day.

I supposed some will laugh about my question, but it disturbing to look in a nice peaceful tank and see this going on. Thanks for any help.

Suzy

he's most probably trying to breed with the guppy as the molly if its female as guppy males will try it on with any females in the tank
they do this by chasing them and displaying his fins
is there any female guppys in the tank?

i think the female thing is important for a calm tank atmosphere. i think its 2 or 3 females to each male, only thing is you end up over run with babys like me so if you only have the one male then have 3 females plus this reduces the stress from the females as all males an one female is bit dangerous.

Thanks for your replies. They really help. Unfortunatley, adding 5 more female guppies to the tank is not an option. For now he has become a fish bowl fish.

Thanks again for your help, Suzy
