just wondering how many angels i can get in a 40x18x18 tank does the 1inch per gallon rule apply as normal here?

Newly free swimming fry 40 fry per gallon
Two week old fry 20 fry per gallon
Month old fry 10 fry per gallon
Pea size bodies 3 fish per gallon
Dime size bodies 2 fish per gallon
Nickel size bodies 1 fish per gallon
Quarter size bodies 1 fish per 2 gallons
Silver Dollar size bodies 1 fish per 3 gallons
Potential breeders 1 fish per 5 gallons
Show Specimens 1 fish per 10 gallons
One breeding pair 20 gallon high tank

Probably have 4 in your size, maybe some aggression when spawning though.

thanks i think ill go for 5 show specimens :p

how long do they take to grow? i will be moving them into a 6ftx18inchx18inch in about 6 months or so.. could i fit about 5-6 in here untill then if i buy them small? also how long do they live?

they dont take long to grow, 6 months are you have a medium sized angelfish

oh ok whats a good fish to put with angels?

(catfish) will they eat corys?

They get along fine with corys, with the exception of pygmys. If it is small enough to fit in their mouth, it will be looked at as food, I found out about pygmys the hard way. They get along with plecs, livebearers, most any non-aggressive fish that doesn't look like an angel. If they start to pair, and another fish looks like an angel it will be treated like one.

I have a blushing angelfish in a 32 gallon (My tank got a shock to the system when I put Black widow tetra's in....NEVER AGAIN..I returned them...on the same day my sis bought me 3 almost full grown tiger barbs they are amazingly placid......)But with all the fish in my tank (see signature) None of them are attacking my angelfish and vice versa
but my angel is growing very slowly....

Wow, thanks for that break-down! I've considered getting a pair of angels of before, and always wondered what their requirements were (esp. being that they're such a tall fish).
