Right now ive got my 8 yellow labs in my 29gal. This isnt workin out too well for me (and the fish) so some time next week i will be taking them back to the lady i got them from. (she breeds them)

She also breeds angels, along with many other cichlids.
I was thinking i would get a pair of angels. Ive read around two would be good for a 29gal.

I was wondering what else could go with them? How much room do i have left? Id like to have some type of tetra school and then cory cats on the bottom.

How much room do i have to work with? I will most likely get the angels mid to full grown.

What type (if any) tetras can i have? How many cories? Is there still room after that too?

THANX!

with a pair of full grown angels you wont have much room for anything else. i keep various tetras with my angels and they all nip the fins. the only fish that leave them alone are the pencilfish and mountain minnows. you could maybe get away with half a dozen whatever fish you choose and 3 corys.
the angels have never tried to eat any of my tetras but i dont keep neons with them.

Harlequin rasboras are a nice schooling fish that stay rather small, and cories are a definate winner.....though I would not put a tremendous number of these fish in that 29. The angels should do just fine in it if you ask me, just don't get anymore than 2.

could i do a small school of white skirt tetras? I just kinda think the angels and those would be kool.

What types of tetras do Angels get along with?

Thanx for the info guys, and i definitaly wont get any more then 2 angels!

skirt tetras are terrible, horrible, no-good, very bad fin-nippers. they live off the stuff.

the way i guess about fin-nipping fish is i look at the way their body is shaped. does it have long fins (like a skirt tetra)? then fin-nipping is a good way to compete for mates/dominance/top fish. does it have a mouth facing straight out (like a tiger barb)? then its face is arranged so that nipping is easy. does it have short fins and a mouth that faces up or down (like a harlequin)? well, there's not really much evolutionary advantage to fin-nipping!

take a look around at you LFS to see what you like. then research those fish online and see which ones would do best in your tank.

this is what the cichlid forum recomends'

• Pterophyllum scalare - 1 pair
• Rasbora heteromorpha "Harlequin" - 8
-OR-
• Carnegiella strigata "Marbled Hatchet" - 6
-AND-
• Botia almorhae "Yo-yo Loach" - 3
-OR-
• Corydoras adolfoi "Cory Catfish" - 5

I had a set up like that, but I had flame tetras instead of the rasboras, and the bronze corries.

that setup sounds great WRS

Id love Hatchetts... :D Great idea

Thanx for the info pica_nuttalli

now... Cories or yo yo's hmmm

That is a tough one. I like em both. Cories school though and stay small....they wouldn't take up too much bioload. Its also according to whether you want sand or not....I wouldn't keep cories with gravel....they use the sand too much as something to dig around/play in and rest on.

yeah i do have gravel in the tank... Its pretty fine, but i do have albino cories in another tank. so i might as well try something new!

I think ill do three Yo Yo's

Hows this?

2 Angels
6 Hatchets
3 Yo Yo's
