thats the other thing..
could i have two angels in a 34 gallon tank, 90cm (l) x 35cm (w) x45cm (h)

the tank is empty at the minute so im just planning. i want to get a rubbernose pleco and maybe some harlequin rasboras. or are they all a bad combination?

you might have to cycle it first if it's a new tank..read the sticky about the new tank syndrome in the beginner's forum....you could start with the rasbora, but I would get the angels until you have build up your beneficial bacteria colony and the ammonia and nitrites are at 0.....

Yup, that sounds like a good plan :) Rasboras can be pretty delicate as can angels so you would want to make sure your tank was well cycled before you added them in. The main thing with angels is that you don't want anything too nippy like tiger barbs b/c their fins are just gonna get shredded.

angels eat/kill small fish. otherwise, i like them. don't put neons in with it. it'll eat them! I speak from experience :(

I would wait and get the tank started first and see how that goes and then as time goes on you could consider an angel but the tank needs to cyle and set up so the enivorment is right for an angel so it won't die on ya

Airli, I just bought a 75 gallon and I plan to put 4 angels, 4 blue rams, 6 corys, 12 to 14 tetras and a couple small algae eaters like plecos or bristlenose. Any of the peaceful community fish should be fine but you want fish that are tall so the angel doesn't see them as food. Like sushi said, don't put neons or cardinals. they are too small and will fit in a mature angels mouth. Some tetras like serpaes tend to be a little on the nippy side so you probably don't want those. Corys would be fine since they are bottom fish and angels are top of the tank fish. Also from what I have been reading on angels so i will know what to do for mine, they like a pretty well planted tank with tall plants for them to hid in since they do stay near the top.

Actual Ive seen and heard that if angels are raised together with the neon that they would be alright. Id just go with a medium sized tetra. Dont get blaqck shirts because they can be nippy to.

I found that if I added the small fish first then a couple of days later added some angels then they get on fine. If you add any small fish after the angels they mite think that it is food.

Sorry that didnt really make sense

Ok, heres the thing:

Tank raised Agnels will eat neons. Neons are part of thier natural diet in the wild. If you keep tank bred Angels, which have been raised on pellets, flakes and other non-live foods, you should be fine. I keep 6 Juvies in with some neons and there are no problems.

The thing you have to remember is Angels grow quite large, and like ANY other fish out there, they will try to eat anything that fits in thier mouths, whereas wild Angels will go after neons at a young age.
