hey guys, i know in need a tall tank for angels, but realistically is it possable to keep a few of them togetr ie more the 2/3 should the tank be large enough? can differne types be mixed????

and if so whats size tnak woul be needed to fit in say ten??

secondly, are the compatable with black ghost knife fish???

cheers guys!!!!

Yes, you can keep 2-3 together, but get them at the same time so one doesn't establish a territory and pick on the other(s) when you add them.

The basic rule for angels is that they need a tank that's at least 18" tall and you should allow 10 gallons per angel for them to not have territory disputes. A 35 gallon hexagonal tank would be nice, or anything bigger than that. A 29/30 might work if it's tall enough. If you want 10, you're looking at a big tank. Different color strains can all be mixed in since they're all just color variations of the same fish - pterophylleum scalare.

Yes, angels and a BGK should be just fine together.

so ten gallons each, but otehr fish with them?? hey don't need ten galons exculsivly to themselves do they,

No, they don't need ten gallons all to themselves, just 10 gallons of territory without other cichlids/territorial fish in it. You can definitely still have other fish in there - angels are great community fish, just make sure to get something that's not nippy like tiger barbs. Giant danios or rainbowfish make great schooling fish to go with angels (if you have a 55g or bigger tank)...

I just bought a new 75 gallon and am trying to come up with a stocking scheme. My wife definitely wants an angel. Would it be better to have 3 or 4 or just the one? Also, I think I remember reading somewhere that angels got stressed around fast swimmers like tetras. Is that correct or am I dreaming that?

Here's a stocking chart for ya!

I've used the following chart (off the internet) as a guide to my Mimimum stocking rates.
Newly free swimming fry 40 fry per gallon
Two week old fry 20 fry per gallon
Month old fry 10 fry per gallon
Pea size bodies 3 fish per gallon
Dime size bodies 2 fish per gallon
Nickel size bodies 1 fish per gallon
Quarter size bodies 1 fish per 2 gallons
Silver Dollar size bodies 1 fish per 3 gallons
Potential breeders 1 fish per 5 gallons
Show Specimens 1 fish per 10 gallons
One breeding pair 20 gallon high tank
