hi, i have bred angel fish before, but i can never tell when they are ready to spawn, i have a breeding pair in tank on there own so they are relaxed.was pot luck when i baught them at a fish auction but they were sold seperately turned out to be breeding pair, so can anyone help me on how u can tell when they are about to lay there eggs thanks.

If you look over in the New World Cichlids section, that is where all the angelfish experts reside!

There are few signs to looks for. First, the will start cleaning a place where the eggs will get put. Second, in a tank with other fish they will tend to drive off the other fish from around that spot. And third, a dead give away is when their tubes come out.

Pardon my poor photo skills and cheap camera, but the pics beclow shows an angel with its tube down. Look between the ventral and anal fins:

They will start cleaning the area that they are going to lay the eggs, and chasing other fish away from the area(if they're in a community tank).
1st time i new mine were a pair i saw them layin the eggs
