hi just a few quick questions about angel fish

will mollies nip there fins? ive been told they will.
what are the chances of succesfully having a red tail shark in a community tank with angels?
what are the smallest angels? i know some can grow to be very large.
How many should i keep together and what sex?

i have a 56 gallon corner planted with caves if that helps thanks

Angels will get to around 8 inches, in height and length
mollys won't nip them but they might nip the mollys, (shouldn't really harm them tho)
provided the tank is big enough angels and a rtb shark should be ok, 56G is just about big enough IMO

what will the other tankmates be?

Agree with davo86,

The most important part of davo's comment is what will be the tank mates?

The more information you can provide, the more everyone can help.

at the min i only have 7 glowlight danios and 2 swordtail one male and one female

and the 2 mollies hence the reason i asked about them

what other tankmates would u suggest the brighter and more active the better

one last thing how many angels are best together?

My zebra danios nip my angels top fins, not sure of yours. My 'ocelot' danio leaves the fins alone though.
Smallest are leopoldi angels, harder to find and more expensive I think.
Veil tails with have longer fins. Keeping different colors doesn't matter.
Angels, 1,2 (a mating pair) or 5+. Otherwise they will fight and kill each other.
If you get a mating pair, they will test fight and protect eggs from other fish. That is the only real aggression mine have.

by mix i mean a altum angel with a black angel and a koi angel just for example

Oh, and as for sex, I don't think you can tell what sex they are until they grow big. Only way is to wait until they let down their 'tubes' to lay eggs. I don't think sex matters.

I think altum gets bigger but I never had the two together, not sure on that but any variety of the scalare is ok.

i think i might just get the 1 and keep him or her as my centre piece along with my rts hopefully they will get on

any other suggestions for tank mates how about any gouramis i dont know much about them they look nice and seem to be popular

I have a golden gourami with mine. For the first two years he was alright. Now he is aggressive/territorial and chases my angels. As for other types of gouramis, maybe a sunset or pearl or honey gourami?
I have german blue ram (although they are quite sensitive fish so maybe you can try bolivian ram)
Otos, danios (some might nip the fins though, mine aren't bad), rams, cardinal tetras, corys, can't think at the moment. Hehe.

Honey Gouramies should be ok but you would be best keeping them in a small group as they are quite shy. If you want bright colours then go for the Red or Golden variety.
