Got home from work this evening and thought it odd when all the fish bar two angels are huddled in one half of my 200l tank. Which is when I noticed that my two white angels, now clearly male and female (up till now I wasn't sure about them) had spawned on a leaf at the back of the tank and we're herding everything else out of the area. They're appearing to do quite well looking after the fish, picking at them to keep them clean and wafting them with their fins periodically, male and female taking turns too it's quite fascinating. And it's their first time too, so I wouldn't expect much from this clutch of eggs anyway.

Now my first thought was to move the eggs out and try and raise the fry, but I have nowhere to put them, grow them on etc, and I probably wouldn't get much if anything for them at my LFS so I'll probably let nature take it's course.

My main concern is with the behaviour of the fish, I haven't got anywhere else to put them if they get over enthusiastic and really injure another fish, perhaps I should get a hospital tank ready just in-case! (And i've just put my 10gal in the loft too!)

A divider is your best bet in a case such as this. They may actually raise a spawn in a divided tank, as there is no real danger from the other fish. If they raise the spawn to swimmers the fry will probably get picked off if they wander to the other side of the divider.

Well so far this morning the eggs are still there and the parents are still shooing the other occupants to the other side of the tank, some chasing but nothing too major. A few of the eggs have gone white, but the parnets have been picking at them so they'll probably not fungus the whole batch.

I still can't decide whether to remove them, but I haven't got the space to raise a number of angels at the moment. At least if they have spawned once they'll probably do it again and become better at it too.

mine spawned 2 days ago the eggs lasted a day and within 2 nights they were gone
hopefully yours will fair better
some of mine went white and they just got removed by the parents i think
good luck :good:

Mine have gone now, but the pair are still tubing and occasionally chasing the other fish away from the spawning site. I may get another spawn soon. At the minute the female's staring at me out of the tank.
