The eggs are the morning of day 3. The first time they spawned, they had eaten the eggs by the end of 24 hours. I am not planning to remove the eggs because I have read the pinned article on the raising of angel fry and I don't have the time or the tanks to do a good job of it. Besides, this time they spawned on the tank itself, right in the corner. Last time they spawned on Val.

If however my angels turn out to be good parents (doing quite well so far) what can I or should I do to help them achieve raising their fry? Again, I have very little hope of any fry living what with the community tank they are in.

I am primarily concerned with feeding the fry, I can raise brine shrimp no problem, if I get free swimmers should I help out wit baby brine shrimp or just let mother nature run its course?

It depends on how many angels you want to end up with. Without bbs, few, if any, will survive. In the wild there are plenty of bbs & smaller sized things for angel fry to eat, it's not that way in an aquarium. On the other hand, if you do feed bbs, you could end up with 100 or more healthy angels, depending on how protective the parents are.

You could try really finely crushed flakes, & hope for the best. It seems like they are spawning on a regular basis, and you don't want to be overrun with angels, or overwelmed with work. If that doesn't work, try bbs for the first week, then switch to the powdered flake.

BTW, corys love bbs, any leftovers won't be leftover for long.

Thanks for the reply Tolak,
Day 4 and the majority of the eggs are gone. It looks like a few remain, but I had to do my H20 change this AM, so unsure if any survived. The eggs are in a position that I really cant see well, the front left corner of the tank. The only way I can see anything is to go to the far right side and look through the tank. By day 4 there should be something hatched but I just can't see a darn thing. I was tempted to stick a mirror into the tank, but decided to leave everything alone. The female is sticking close, but the male comes and goes. He loses interest pretty quickly when it is feeding time!

No I don't have room for 100+ angels, and I don't plan to try to ever remove eggs and raise them myself. This was the second spawn in just a few weeks, so the pair are getting on quite well! If they keep on like they are, they may soon stick with it and raise them. Last time the eggs were only around for 24 hours, this time, some eggs remain at 4 days.

I have such a soft heart, if there is any chance of life, I like to do what I can, within my power, but I can't do heroic things. It is so cool to watch the pair. I have had angels off and on for years and have never had any spawn.

How often can/will they spawn?

My angels spawn every 10 days or so. I don't really try to do anything either as they are in a community setting. I do love watching them protect their eggs and try to be good parents. It is very interesting.
