I have 2 angels in my overcrowded angel tank that appeared to have paired up. They are on one side of the tank, cleaning the glass, only straying to eat or chase off one of the other angels. Both of their breeding tubes are down. I'm just wondering as to what is the best way to figure out which is male and which is female? One tends to do more of the cleaning while the other one is busier chasing every one else. One also has more of a taller dorsal fin. Their tubes both look male to me, but I'm sure I'm wrong cuz I can't see 2 males hooking up

what size of tank is it and how many angels in it?

In my situation my female is the smaller of the two. If you have time watch your tank as they will probably lay the eggs soon if they are cleaning and her tube is out. The tube on my female seems much longer than the male so with mine it was easy to tell. If your tank is small or overcrowded be ready for some territory chasing as they will protect their eggs. Good luck :good:

my book says males are longer and pointer and females are shorter and look like a bowl at the end.

Well I never really noticed a long tube on my male. I have watched them lay eggs many times already and also watched the male fetilize the eggs. My female Angel lays eggs about every 11-12 days like clockwork. I just let the angels tend to them as I really dont want a tank of baby angels. Usually the eggs are gone in 2-3 days and I look forward to the next spawn in 11-12 days.
Just keep an eye open if the angels tube is down and they are cleaning you should see them laying eggs soon after that, usually within a day or so, that is my own experiance however.
Good Luck :good:
