Hi there i am currently setting up a new 100gallon (450ltr) chichlid tank. At the moment all that is in the tank is a pair of angel fish. They have just spawned today (didn't know they were a pair until now, LOL) basically i only own one other tank and the fry cannot go in that tank because it is already fully stocked. i would like the fry to grow but the only filter i have the large tank is an external eheim wet and dry which returns water to the tank in a wave like motion, i have heard people say that if there is too much current the fry dont stand much chance due to dying of exhaustion. Is this true and is there anything i can do to give the fry a fighting chance of survival.

if its the first spawn then they may not get the fry to free swimming stage anyway, it takes a few goes for them to master it properly.
If they do get it right then you would need to put a bit of stocking over the in take to stop the young being sucked up. can you alter the speed of the filter as you can turn this to its lowest setting.
as for the water return then put plastic plants or whatever you have to try and break up the flow if you can. i havent seen a wet and dry working and i have the pro which gives 750 lph which isnt that great if it was on a 100 gallon. whats your turnover?
i dont know about the flow being too much for them but i'm sure someone will be along to help more. good luck with them
