:-(

hi, i haven't been around here for a while since i got a new job, but tragedy has just struck.

i have a tank with the following params:

100 litre
external eheim filtration plus juwel internal 1
2 angels approx 10 cms tall inc fins
6 bronze cories
8 harlequin rasbora
6 golden barbs

nitrate <20, nitrite 0 all others basically fine - possibly KH a little high

all has been well until i changed 25% of the water on Tuesday night. i was out last night so don't know when it happened but i have just found both of my angels dead at the bottom of the tank.

they had no eyes left so i presume they have been dead perhaps since tuesday night or wednesday but have no other markings.

all of the other fish are fine and the water tests out ok so i am a little mystified as to what could have happened. the only thing i did different was to lay a plastic bag across the top of the tank where there is a hole in the lid to stop the water evaporating so quickly.

it has just occurred to me now that this would have meant there was no space at the top of the water for oxygen to enter - the only entry point would have been via the inflow from the filter.

am i right in thinking it was possibly oxygen starvation? and the bigger fish succumbed first?

i am soooo stupid to have done that, i loved my angels so much :-( :-(

I'd blame the barbs as they aren't compatible with angels as they are to nippy. They could have chased the angels till they died of stress or they could have been attacking the angels.

Sorry to hear of your loss. :rip:
