Ok so I have a 20 gallon tank with a chinese algae eater, and two mid sized angels. Will they be alright with a few pictus cats? I read that when they are fed its a feeding frenzy and it upsets the quieter fish in the tank, would that include angels?
What else would work with the angels? It feels so empty I need some more activity.
Thanks!

The tank is too small for pictus cats which are very active and require a tank at least 4 feet long, i also wouldnt recomend them as tankmates for angels as their nocturnal activity will upset them.

Can I just add that the tank is going to be too small for the angels and the Chinese Algae Eater when they are fullgrown. Angels need a tall tank and a bit of room for their territory, and you may expect aggression problems with the CAE as it matures.
The tank might just do for the CAE on its own, given that they are not terribly active.
This is basically a tank for small fish, if you want it to look at all lively. Otherwise you will end up with one medium-sized fairly inactive fish like the CAE.

Agree with CFC and dwarfgourami. 20 Gallons if far too small. Pictus really need at least 4ft / 50 gallons + and need to be in groups of 3+
And i would not keep them with Angels.

The CAE will also eventually grow to 10" and is not suitable as a community fish or for a 20 gallon tank.
20 Gallons is more suited to smaller tetras (in groups of 4+) etc. and perhaps some ottos etc.

Well I was hoping to get a taller "show" tank for the angels before they got too big, they are still very small. I had had gourami's but my dwarfs kept dying : ( No clue as to why they died. And my paradise got too aggressive. Don't let anybody get them for a community tank, even the guy at petsmart said oh no they aren't aggressive, perfect with gouramis. HAH!!! HE LIED! Anyway, maybe I will ask for a taller tank and money to get my own place. I'm going to have a living room of fish tanks! Easier than a dog.

Sorry to hear about your dwarfs, but they are a very problematic species at the moment- so overbred and antiobiotics-raised that they go down with anything that's going.

As for the guy who said paradise fish would be fine with gouramis- they are both labyrinth fish and labyrinth fish are notoriously territorial and aggressive towards their own genus. I wouldn't trust him again.
