oh damn, another difficult decision :S

I was planning a oddball style tank anway tbh

btw does anyone here have personal experience with these fish together?

I've only been keeping fish for about 8 months but I am keeping 2 angels and three oscars together. The oscars are still young though and i'm informed a "bloodbath will ensue unless I take action. Have seen no agression so far however......

yes Mr williams however a Juvinile Cichlid and a adult cichlid are almost two entirely different personalities....

Frankly if I had a 180 gallon I would use that tank size to do the tank you always dreamed of as that size tank can have almost any readily available fish (in Aus anyway). I would just do a community tank of fish you want that go together...Or a oddball tank of a f-8 puffer and nothing else....thats a odd tank :p

I agree 100%. Even though my JD is roughly atleast 7 monthes old, he is already starting to kick in his adult "bravado". He is showing much more coloration (when his master, me, is not around of course), and he is becoming must less shy and more boistorous when someone comes near his tank. He will follow that person up and down the glass to make sure they keep away from his fake plants! :p

Quite a big difference from when I first had him in which he would hide 95% of the day and would barely ever show any coloration at all, almost a light tan 100% of the time. I'm glad he's growing up and I think soon it will be time to give my big guy a nice big new home!

another question for you guys.

I have a male krib, he is in my tank and therefore is alright in my pH and tank water

would an oscar eat him?

thanks

Maybe not when the Oscar is younger, but as soon as the Oscar's mouth is big enough, in it will go. Anything that can fit into the Oscars mouth will end up there at one point or another, just a fact.... sorta like a dog come to think of it

From your signature your tank is 400L, this is about 106 USG fluid. Your stock list in your signature would have this tank way overstocked not to mention the soon to occur blood bath! Some of those fish comfortably reach 10+ inches in an aquarium. Your existing fish inches approach 80 inches and a lot of growth to come and not much room left. I believe that you seriously need to address your stocking level. Stunting fish through inadequate tank size is something most see as cruel and unacceptable treatment of the animals. The rule of thumb, and only a rule of thumb, is 1 gallon of water per inch of fish (body). This rule certainly is subject to consideration of the ultimate size of the fish. As an example 2 x 12 inch oscars should not be in a 29 gallon tank even though the rule of thumb implies this is an acceptable stocking.
