Is it OK to just have one angelfish in a tank? I want to keep it with harlequins, pengiun fish, hatchets, a cory cat and possibly cardinal tetras if I can manage to stop them being eaten! Does this sound OK?

Angels seem to be ok on there own..I have had my single angel for 6 years now with no ill effects...I do have other fish in my tank so that may help...

but he/she should be fine alone as long as you have something in there

Depends on the tank size. Angels need at least 18" of tank height due to their body shape. If the tank is tall enough, 1 will do fine on it's own.

It should be fine but i would keep an eye on your cardinals cuz wen those angels get bigger they will become nice snacks! u would be amazed at what angels can get in there mouth.

Thanks for your replies!

My tank is 18" high so that should be fine.

I have read that if you get juvenile angels and fully grown cardinals then because the angel can't eat themat first it doesn't recognise them as food when it gets big enough to be able to eat them. Its worth a try?
