I have 65 gallon and 2 silver angelfish with male and female dwarf gourami, cory cats, bolivian and blue rams. Japanese Trapdoor snails. The angelfish turned into bullies and they like to peck on everything including the snails. What can I do to stop this? Should I get up to 6 angels? I heard they're schooling fish and they do better minimum 6.

how long has this bullying behavior taken place?

i've always kept 2 angels at a time, and i've never had a problem with agression until recently. the two angels started fighting each other, then the other fish...why? they had become adults, apparently liked each other, and started spawning. two weeks after, spawned again, agressive behavior again...

so could that be your problem?

since they are paired, it may not actually be fighting initially but courtship.

yeah now i know that. but when i first saw it I freaked out thinking it was some brutal fight to the death or something!

My problem is a little different. First of all they're too young to breed and I think they're both male because their eyes are red. They're not really trying to hurt other fish, it's like they're just pecking on other fish from time to time for fun. This started as soon as I upgraded from 29 gallon to 65 gallon. In 29 gallon they only pecked on small fish. Dwarf gourami was the bully king in 29 gallon but now even the dwarf gourami is the scared one. I reintroduced the two angelfish after rearranging the aquarium yesterday and they seem a little better however they still peck on the snails and otoniculus. I really need those two so they can clean algae properly but they won't let em.
