A pet store here has a breeding pair of 3 year old angel fish for sale at 4.99 for both they are gorgeous fish and while I dont want to breed I was wondering if I should buy them and use them as my center peice fish in my 75gall tank. the Angels are in with some really aggresive fish at the moment that are tearing the angels fins. I would stock with the Angels cory cats, a plec of some sort and 2 or 3 schools of either Tetras or neons. in a well planted tank with a sand substrate. and drift wood......... will the tetras or neons either
a) eat the angels fins
B) eat the eggs or fry (hoping againgst hope on this one)
if the fry do hatch there are 3 or 4 pet stores here that are more then willing to purchase the young.
what else would get along with angels?

Nope, it'll be the other way around. The tetras will get eaten by the angels. Neon tetras are angelfish's natural type of food, so I wouldn't plan on getting them if you already have neon tetras or any small tetras.

Yep your angels are likely to eat your tetra or nip there fins, it does depend on the personality of your angel but generally this will happen.
I dont have anyone yet.... just wondering what I can stock with the angels. if I get them... I really really want to cause they are soo sad looking where they are.. The fins are torn ect because of the fish they are in with..... The lfs has nowhere else to put them the previos owner didnt want them anymore and brought them in for a fish credit argh,,,,,,if I buy them they would be put into a tank with fish that will ignore them.

i've heard the rams might work with the angels especially german blue rams. i'm not an expert but i'm pretty sure that there are shoaling fish that are big enough not to be eaten by the angels and peaceful enough not to nip. maybe harlequins or some sort of danios. besides rams or maybe discus i would stay away from other cichlids tho

i hope this helps a bit

well i wouldnt put anything in with a breeding pair of angels.
just seems like a disaster waiting to happen.
angels are aggresive fish
and a breeding pair of angels even more agresive.

Most aren't aggressive.

But a breeding pair is so yeah aggressive fish only.

Angels will eat neons, especially if they are spawning. I keep corys & bristlenose plecs with angel pairs without any problems. With a larger tank, especially if it is longer you could keep a pair of apistos. The apistos like a small low cave for spawning, angels like taller vertical objects. Corys stay at the bottom, angels ignore them, bristlenose will try to eat eggs, but are small enough to be chased off while having a bit of armor so no harm is done.

I have an angel in with bolivian Rams as well as gold rams Rummy nose tetra and Harlequins.

I did have 4 angels but my remaining angel killed his three friends and has bitten the tails on some of my harlequins.

However he does get along fine with the rams and the rummy nose tetra.
