hi everyone

i have lost all my angelfish recently :-( however this was mostly because of some seriously bad advice from a pet store regarding a paradise fish (community tank fish I THINK NOT).

anyways we managed to get rid of the evil critter, with only one angel left, however he died a few days later, for no apparent reason, there was no damage or anything to him. i was wondering if either he was lonely or our tank is too shallow for him, as it is only 1ft deep, however 4ft long. he was only about 1inch across, so he wasn't huge.

just curios as we love these fish and would like some more, but don't want to lose anymore!!!
thanks

Sorry to hear that :rip: my little angle. Its probably caused by stress :(. Most angle fish r pretty hardy just give ur self another try and ur tank size is enought for little one but once they get bigger switch to a bigger tank. I love to buy angle when they were little :).

i know, so sad, he was a beautiful black lace angel, my favourite of all the ones i have seen!
i think we will try again, someone suggested getting 6 juveniles, they will eventually pair off, and then maybe mate, which would be lovely!
and we are planning on a bigger tank, i have fallen in love with the new (ish) juwel vision 450 one! any opinions as to what these tanks are like?
thanks

I bought 6 Angels as usually some die, but I still have all 6. I'm not sure which are paired off as I now have 4 very happy in a juwel trigon 360. It is a lovely tank. If you are thinking of getting the larger trigon try to see if you can reach the bottom of the tank before buying. I tried and realised that I could never reach the back or bottom even standing on a stool. I have had about 10 lots of eggs in the past 6 months, but am unsure whether two of them are laying eggs. Unfortunately they keep getting eaten. I had to remove 1 angel to another tank as it was very aggressive and have put the smallest in with other community fish as it had an eye infection of sorts and now is blind in one eye. They all seem happy where they are. I am thinking of getting an egg container to see if I can get any eggs to hatch. Diddy angels would be fab.

By the name of ur tank I think u live in eroupe as in canada here we dont buy tank with names(usually just size :)). A good size tank for angle would be 55g+, but usually they can settle in like 40g no problem as long there r no agreesive tank mate like bar I hate tiger bar :(. And usually when I buying tank I dont even bother getting the top part as I dont tend to use them anyway for community planted tank the lighting inside is just too dark or should I say too low. I only buy the tank it self as I have a big stand in my house for the tank to lay on. Which I have better lighting unit install on top of the tank then the one come with the set. Good luck to ya :)

Im sorry for ur loss...

but, you said your tank is only 1 ft deep?

that is too small for an angel, i would suggest atleast 16 inches deep for your angel.

Again sorry to hear for ur loss

because our angels were so small we haven't heard anyone say that the tank was too shallow. but anyways, we have decided not to buy anymore until we get our new tank. we found one we want it is almost 5ft x 2ft x 2ft (90 gallons, to be exact!!! ) and bow fronted it is absolutely stunning. just trying to find out what the general opinion of juwel tanks are.
but thank you all for your advice, and condolences!

I actually find it a bit tricky to spot fish and see whats happenning in the bow fronts - prefer the straight tanks (rio 400/300).

Take a look at one full and stocked before taking the plunge?
