I just bought an angelfish today and noticed it only has one ventral fin. Will this make any difference to the fish, and also will it grow back?

Neal

It won't make any difference to the fish on it's own. If it is partially gone, it was probably nipped, & should grow back. If it is completely missing, it won't grow back, and should have never been sold. Any responsible breeder refers to them as culls, and any responsible shop should have caught that & not sold it.

Many times an external defect which can be seen will also manifest itself as an internal defect, which cannot be seen.

Thanks for the reply, it has totally gone as far as it looks. The shop isn't at all a responsible shop, they sold a boy two turtles in a 2ish Gallon tank, but didn't tell him that he needed special UV light and the size of the turtles, luckily he gave them to an LFS in my town and they know how to look after them. It's a garden centre, and the majority of them are mainly chain stores, so that explains it all. (I'm not saying all chain stores are bad), but most are, although I have discovered Pets at home to be quite good, when I bought my new filter they told me i'd need to get beneficial bacteria on it, but I already said I know. I should of listened to them and see if their advice was any good.

Neal - I wouldn't bother LOL. Most PAH are absolutely sh*te - I had to complain at our local one the other week because there were at least 2 dead fish in every single tank, and they just went on their merry business not giving a monkeys. Theyre also as a chain really bad at misinformation and bad labelling. I just wouldn't bother going there.
