I have a tank about 28 gallons with an undergravel filter and a biowheel and plastic plants, and I'd like to put some angelfish (Pterophyllum Scalare) in there. I already have some nasty tetras in there but I plan on getting rid of them.

However, I've read that Angelfish like soft (says Soft to medium. dH range: 1-20), slightly acidic water (says pH 5-7.5). But my local water is hard and alkaline (GH at about 150 ppm, KH around 150ppm, pH around 8). Can the angelfish adjust to these conditions, or should i just forget about it?

Thanks guys,
Dooner

They will adjust to it, as long as they are aclimated to it properly. Find a lfs, or better yet a local breeder with the same water as you have.

I have hard water, pH of 7.7, my angels breed & grow out without any problems.

I have Ph 7.8-7.9 water and I have added bogwood to my tank. This has moved the pH to a steady 7.3-7.5. I have a happy angelfish....

I bought my angelfish locally and the lfs has the same hard alkaline water that I have,In saying that I also use bogwood in the tank.Ive had the 2 of them 9 months with no problems
