Angelfish Spawning Questions

i have a pair that just spawned for the first time
but the female ate the eggs
will she eventually stop this?
afterwards the male got extremelly aggresive
and started beating her up
is this normal?

Pretty normal for angels. It usually takes them a few spawns to get it right. Most pairs will scuffle to some extent, keep a divider around in case they get out of hand.

10-14 days was the typical for my pair. mine didnt eat the eggs, but since they were in a community fish, the other fish did. if you have them in a spawning tank they will, most likely, eventually learn to not eat the eggs, keep them clean, raise the fry, etc. so it takes time. most breeders pull the eggs once they've been fertilized and raise them themselves, that way you get a much higher hatch rate.
either way, they will continue to fight and spawn like clockwork every 2 weeks or less, so it will be a continuous process of beating each other up, healing, and again...
