Hi everyone,

Last week I upgraded to a 90l tank from a modest 30l tank. Since I placed my two angels in one of them (my Platinum angel which I have had for 8 months) became visibly stressed and its fins were clamped and it developed redness on its pectoral fins. The redness and the fins problem seemed to have gone by yesterday and the fish looks fine but he will not eat anything, I have tried flakes and frozen bloodworm. He seems to be constantly lurking by the filters (I have my old filter in the new tank as well as the new one). He used to race to the surface when I put food in but he is so disinterested now and just ignores the food while my other angel which I have had for the same amount of time feeds away. I checked the water levels and everything seems fine, nitrites and ammonia were both zero, Ph was 7.2 and nitrates 10ppm. The other fish I have in the tank are 3 guppies and an albino shark and the other black angel which appears to also be a male.

Any advice on what I could do to save this angel would be greatly appreciated.

The redness is generally a normal coloration in a lighter angel that is stressed. I would treat as an internal protizoal problem. 40mg/gallon metronidazole, 50% water change daily with a remed. You want to do this in a smaller tank, as you do want to turn the temperature up quite a bit, upper 80's to low 90'sF. Make sure there is plenty of aeration, as warmer water holds less O2.

Don't feed for the first few days, after that start feeding some frozen brine with metro sprinkled on it, make it look like a tiny donut. Feed this only, once daily, for 7-10 days.
