I bought an angelfish July 12th and it has been doing great up until today. My boyfriend noticed it was missing so I looked for it and it was in my crypts. I gently got it out but it isn't swimming at all. It's laying on its side just breathing.
It ate flakes everytime I fed my fish, about every couple days.

3 oto, 6 harlequin rasbora, 1 tiny angel
20gal tall with plants

angel's body is clean, no marks or spots, didn't get to see it's poop
tank cleaned last wednesday I believe

ph 7.4-7.8
ammonia 0
nitrate 5-10
nitrite 0
78F
DIY co2

I found it between my crypts, think it got stuck and gassed itself? (since co2 bubbles from near there)

:(!!!

It could be some sort of internal parasite or and internal infection caused by bacteria in your tank..
has the fish been under any particular stress lately?

I don't think so... What could be stress? I don't take many pictures with flash and I don't think the current is really strong.
What could cause those types of infections and how can I tell if that's what it is?
:(

If the tank is located near a noisy enviroment or near people walking past alot that can stress the fish, have the light on for too long can also cause stress, have you checked the temperature of the tank?
stress causes these infections, poor water quality also does..
does it look bloated at all, like its scales are prickling out?
are the areas around the gills red?

The tank is in my room in the basement on a desk, 2 sides are by a wall and not much traffic through. The lights are on 3pm-10pm.
I haven't played any music for weeks. temp is still 78F and I havent touched the thermometer
Scales aren't prickling and I can't see the gills but every so often it looks like the fish is 'yawning'. The fish is skinny, not bloated at all that I can tell...
I've never seen the rasboras pick on it, and right now the breathing doesnt seem to be very rapid. It moves its side fin like its swimming but its laying on its side.
I changed 15% of the water.

I would keep on doing 15% water changes each day,
i rememeber i used to have a goldfish that would just lay on its side every half a year and then it would be fine for the rest of the year..but that may of been a rare case..
I think we should wait for another person who has a better knowledge of this field of fish keeping :good:

The fish looks very skinny to me from the first picture - so there could well be a parasite problem.

Have you ever seen it feeding? Or does it get chased away before it can eat?

It did eat and get excited when I put food in there, maybe it didn't eat a lot... I'm sad, I think it passed. What can I do for my other fish?
