Well I removed my Pleco from the tank to treat im for swim bladder disease, and they apparently took advantage of him not being there. They did however pick the stupidest place in the tank to place them..... A plastic leaf...comepltley vertical... it's really pathetic to watch...she tries to stick them on and they al fall off...so they both scramble around picking them up and trying to put them back on the leaf.... *sigh* I've never been a mommy to egglayers before. I'm keeping them both well fed so they wont eat them.

I've heard about some kind of fish that you can put in with the parents to make them protect and care for their eggs better. I cant remember what they're called though. anyone know?

So about how long until these eggs will hatch?

How many babies should I expect to get?

When they do hatch, should I put them in a breeding net, or will the parents take care of them?

What do I feed them when they hatch?

2-3 days to hatch i believe

anyware from 1 to 300. probably around 50 or so. but it depends on how many eggs were layed.

parents might snack on them.

feed live brineshrimp

2-3 days!!! holy snufflefish!!!

After 2-3 days they will become wrigglers.. You will notice a tiny tail and eyes..Around day 7 they will become free swimmers.. :good:

Have you any other fish in the tank at the moment?

nope, no other fish in the tank

hmmm.....I read that post you linked. Dunno if I agree with the removing of the eggs ect... I'am the type of person who lets mother nature do as its supposed to =\ The female is large, I wouldnt be suprised if this isnt her first batch of eggs. She seems to know exactly what shes doing. She wont take her eyes off the leaf, and not once have I seen her leave her little corner of the tank. The male is no longer having anything to do with them, and he acts hungry alll the time. If anyone is going the eat the fry...it will be him. Now I know I said I dont like to interfear with mother nature. But I may remove the male temporarily.

I did learn alot though, I've now snet my dad to the store to get a sponge filter and brine shrimp. And it was nice to find out what the mom was doing every so often, she was fanning.

I'am a little dissapointed about the fact that alot of the eggs fell to the ground and never got fertilized :(

Problem with not removing the eggs is that most angels are so captive bred they are poor parents and either eat the eggs or many will fungus and they show little care for the fry, especially if they are inexperienced. Every angel breeder I know removes the eggs, but each to their own. Good luck with your breeding.

I noticed a couple of them are white. the others arents. What does that mean?

And I've thought about it...maybe i will seperate them. im expecting them any time now. Im constantly checking on them. Once they hatch i will put them in a seperate tank.

but she seems like such a good mommy. I dont want to take the eggs away, I would feel so bad >.<

shes in a 38 gallon all by herself and the eggs. Theres lots of hiding places for the babies to go.

The store didnt have live brine shrimp, but they had frozen =\ .....they also didnt have a breeding net....or a sponge filter... -.-

I sent my dad to a bigger store. I hope he can find what i need there.

I still dunno how I feel about interfearing with all this. I guess I'll keep an eye on her, If she starts to eat the fry then i'll seprate them. If not, then that would be great :)

Do you have gravel in your tank? If you do you may lose alot of babies in the gravel..They will wriggle underneath it and get stuck..
Is it baby brine shrimp you have.? Because brine shrimp will be too big for the babies to eat..
Edit: The white eggs are not fertilized.. The female will probably eat the white eggs..
