I have a pair of angelfish that have been laying eggs but they never last. Well anyways, the male keeps going fr the woman n I have noticed that the fins are a bit ragged.
I have been putting melafix in the water to help the fins grow back but that ain't seemed to wok. Also my no3 has been high but I can't seem to get it down.
I have come home and they have finally laid some eggs again but I did a little water change and put in the melafix like i have been doing and my female fish started going crazy. Kept opening her mouth really big. Started swimming around everywhere. Splashing out the water. Hitting glass. As then just payed syill on the floor. Still breathing. This happend for a few mins and she is swimming round now, well kind of hiding behind the leaves but what do i do???

Please post full set up details, including water parameters, decor, stock..

Melafix has never worked for me. I use eSHa 2000 to prevent infections and wait for the fins to grow back by themselves. Also more regular water changes help.

What is your tap water nitrate reading?

i use tetra 6-1 water test strips....

no3- 100( it says water change which i have been doing every other day but it wont go down)
no2 - 0 (safe)
gh - 16d (safe)
kh - 3d (o.k)
ph - 7.6 (o.k)
cl2 - 0 (o.k)

i just got home from work and it ;looksd like all but like 4 eggs have been eaten.
my angelfish still looks a little off too but the male seems fine.
i dont have my carbon bits in my filter as i have been using melafix for the last 2 weeks.
i really hope my test results make sense to you!

o yeah i have real plants in my tank and as they were laying eggs, i took out most of my fish. i now have 2 bottom feeders ( not sure what they are called) and 2 tetras. nothing too much.
i have a 64l tank too.
their diet is varied, flakes, fresh food, veggies and bloodworm.
